Drum roll, please...I am finally going to post about Kaylee's first birthday (1 month and 7 days late). Yes! She's one! My baby's one! And yes, the year did cruise by quickly. On December 10, 2007 at 5:36 pm, Kaylee entered this world. Weighing 6 lbs 5 oz and stretching to 19 1/2 inches, she was perfect. Now, one year later, we're thinking about walking, talking, eating, laughing, and BIRTHDAY PARTIES! Kaylee enjoyed 2 birthday parties, one on Maui and one on Oahu. She celebrated with family, friends, good food, and lots of fun. We love her in every way and can't wait to share many more birthdays with her. The rest of this post is for my baby...
To my Kaylee,
Happy Birthday! I want to share with you how so very special you are to Mommy and Daddy. Before you were born, Mommy and Daddy would lie in bed at night wondering out loud. We wondered if your hair would be curly or straight. We wondered who's nose yours would most resemble. We wondered if you would be shy or outgoing. We wondered if you would play sports or dance hula. Mostly, we wondered if we would be good parents. Then, on December 10, 2007 at 5:36 pm, you entered this world. And you were BEAUTIFUL. You ARE beautiful. When you were born your lungs had a little trouble keeping up with your body. The nurses had to take you to the NICU. There was so much for you little body to handle, but Daddy went with you. He watched over you and grew more in love with you each minute you were together. Before you were born, Daddy used to say, "I want her to just come so I can hold her in my arms." And now you were finally here. Thank you for being here. Thanks for choosing us. When I held you in the hospital, I couldn't bear to let you go. Of course, you were only 6 lbs then. Now, 14 lbs later, I still have times when I just want to hold you in my arms forever. However, I know that I have to let you go so you can grow. And my how you have grown! One year later, you are walking, talking (mama, dada, hi, oh), laughing, dancing, eating anything we eat, and so much more. Along with all of your growing, Mommy and Daddy have grown too. We have grown closer to you, closer to each other, and closer to the Lord. Oh, my sweet child, Mommy and Daddy still wonder from time to time, but we know that everything will work out fine when we see your smiling face. I love you now and forever. Love, Mommy
